Match vs Kent @ Mannings Heath

May 16, 2019 | Archives

On Wednesday May 15thwe welcomed the Lady Captain of Kent, Rebecca Goldsmith, and her team to Mannings Heath Golf Club for the first match of the season to play the Waterfall Course.  It is a scenic and challenging course which the Club’s website describes as presenting ‘a fair test of nerve and skill for every calibre of golfer.’

The weather was perfect for golf as it was warm and sunny and the ladies from both teams enjoyed the challenge of the course which was very well presented.

Mannings Heath Golf Club and Wine Estate is now part of the Benguela Collection which owns the Benguela Cove Wine Estate at Hermanus, Western Cape , South Africa and whose wines are served and sold at the Club.

It was of great interest and something of a novelty to the ladies from both teams to find that wine tasting was available in the Pro Shop. Everyone resisted the temptation before teeing off!

All the matches were very competitive and keenly contested.  Kent were victorious, winning 5 games to 3. There were some very close matches which could have gone either way with two Sussex pairs only losing, much to their disappointment, on the 18thgreen.

We look forward to meeting the Kent ladies again at our return match away at Lamberhurst Golf Club in September.
